There? No General Recruitment Method

In all business activities, the most subjective is the recruitment process. Cruel fact: people’s prejudices and intuition are an intricate part of the recruitment process, and there is no universal recruitment method.

In the end, the recruitment process is an emotional process for both parties. People who reach an agreement with one interviewer may be dismissive of other interviewers. The recruitment process is like this, and life is like this.

Do you like pizza? So what is the material? Do you like western movies, science fiction movies, romantic movies, action movies and thrillers? Is Seth Logan interesting? Dog, cat or fish as pets? Is coffee milk or cream?

Your unlimited preference combination is your own. Apply this human truth to the recruitment manager and explain why the recruitment process is full of human prejudice.

All job seekers ask what the employer is looking for.

The answer is that there is no “employer” alliance. Employers are individual human resource managers, senior executives, department managers, business owners, and recruiters. They have personal and specific problems. And with their own human bias to find employees to solve their problems.

My advice is not to overemphasize your resume form, clothes, LinkedIn introduction and behavior. These are really important, but their importance varies from employer, industry, region and interviewer.

The formula for a well meaning career coach to successfully apply for a job is A+B+C=”You’ve been hired!” If the core of every recruitment decision is “intuitive”, how can there be a formula?

The past recruitment mistakes, prejudices and commonalities on both sides of the recruitment team are “mixed”. If you want to double your job search success rate, stop chasing the wrong job and employer! Idea: I’m not looking for a job; i’m looking for my tribe.

Find an employer who can catch you. Find like-minded people. Find a comfortable place for you. Find an employer who is proud of your recognition and association. I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s worth the effort.

Yes, there are several basic principles for job hunting. For example, the typing on your resume is correct. Don’t chew gum during the interview, but the “principle” is very flexible.

consider:

  • I hired a person who was more than 20 minutes late for the scheduled interview.

  • I hired the candidate within 5 minutes after the interview started and asked, “How much is the salary for this job?”

  • I have employed job seekers who have been unemployed for more than 6 months.

  • I can’t remember how many candidates over 50 I hired.

  • Everyone I hire thinks I can relate to their stories.

Maybe you have a friend. Your other friends can’t understand why you became friends with him. Relates to a part of their story, shares common ground, or serves each other’s best interests in any way. Whatever the reason, there is a connection with your unwelcome(misunderstood) friends. A similar situation occurs every day throughout the financial sector. Employees of employers do not need to be perfect as long as they meet job requirements.

As a job seeker, your main goal is to connect with those who can help you find a job. I will discuss this topic in a later column. This explains why the Internet is the most effective way to find a job. The network has extended the connecting runway, making people more familiar with it. Therefore, when you participate in the recruitment process, you will be more relevant to most competitors.

After reading this article, I hope you can accept it. What you can do is try your best to be more yourself.

Don’t distort yourself and become the target of the employer. Remember, all job search journeys are unique. Pay attention to the pain of the hiring manager and how to solve the problems in the position you are applying for. Please find a company that suits you best. During the interview, focus on getting in touch with the interviewer. The positive changes in the results of your work will surprise you.
